Butch Boyle Scholarship

In memory of Butch Boyle, a board member and great friend of the Longmeadow youth soccer program, the Longmeadow Soccer Association is proud to offer an annual $500 scholarship to LHS graduating seniors.

Scholarship Eligibility:
1. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is planning to attend a two or four year degree granting college or university.
2. Applicant must have actively participated in the Longmeadow Soccer program.
3. Applicant must display good sportsmanship and leadership qualities.

Application Deadline: April 1

The Butch Boyle Scholarship Application Form is in Rich Text Format (RTF), which can be used buy many word processing programs such as MS Word, Apple Works and OpenOffice. Application forms are alo available at the Longmeadow High School Guidance Office.

2011

Steve Ehrenberg and Jeff Davis of the Longmeadow Soccer Association present Rachel Rothstein and Andrew Echeverria with the 2011 Butch Boyle Scholarship Award. Both Rachel and Andrew have played for LSA for 9 years as well as coached youth and refereed youth games. Congratulations Rachel and Andrew and good luck with your college careers!

2010

The 2010 scholarships were awarded to Mike Fischer and Laura Yesu in recognition of their exemplary participation in the program. In addition to participating as players for eight years, Mike and Laura also coached youth teams and served as referees for numerous seasons. The scholarships were awarded to Mike and Laura at the July 2010 Longmeadow Soccer Association meeting.

2009

Earlier this summer the LSA awarded scholarships to two members of the 2009 graduating class at Longmeadow High School. The $500 scholarships were awarded to Kelsey Yam and Mallory Hinman in recognition of their exemplary participation in the program as players and continuing their involvement through refereeing during their four years at Longmeadow High School. Kelsy also ran the snack stand at Wolf Swamp Field for the 2008 season.

2008

In the summer of 2008, the LSA awarded scholarships to two members of the 2008 graduating class at Longmeadow High School. The $500 scholarships were awarded to Chase Hobart and Bill Walen in recognition of their exemplary participation in the program as players and continuing their involvement through refereeing during their four years at Longmeadow High School. Both Hobart and Walen are planning to play college soccer at Bentley and Wesleyan respectively.
