Welcome
Longmeadow Soccer Association is a group of parent volunteers who
enjoy the game of soccer almost as much as we enjoy seeing our kids
playing and having fun. The In-Town
program serves all boys and girls from Kindergarten through 8th grade
who sign up to play.
The Travel program serves boys and girls
from age 9 through 13, with teams chosen from players who attend our
spring evaluation.
Our philosophy promotes teamwork, skills
development, fun and fitness without a focus on winning. Players from
Kindergarten through 8th grade need to develop personal and team
skills before beginning competitive play.
From the LSA By-Laws:
The purpose of this Association shall be to develop, promote and
administer the game of soccer among players within the town of
Longmeadow. It shall do so by providing a positive athletic
experience, teaching cooperation and team work, and improving
the individual skills of the players.
LSA is a member of the
Pioneer Valley Junior Soccer League and
Mass Youth Soccer.

will be postponed
until August. We'll post the exact date very soon. Sorry for the
the delay.
Travel Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend, and in-town coaches
are welcome to join us. The cost of the course is covered by LSA for
our coaches. Coaches from other programs are welcome and can sign-up
on-line on the
Mass Youth Soccer web site at a cost of $55.
LSA coaches: as soon as we finalize the date please sign-up by sending your first and last names in
an email to

Please note: You must be 18 years of age or older, and hold a "G" license
to attend this course. If you do not have the G license, you can take
the course on-line on the
Mass Youth Soccer
web site before June 20.
From the MYSA instructor, Evan Holmes: "The MYSA F course is an 8 hour course
geared towards coaches with some experience who are typically coaching U-8s and U-10s.
We start with an hour in "the classroom". Then we have about 2 hours of activities.
Coaches are invited to participate to help get a good sense of they should do.
Coaches should bring a notebook, pen/pencil, a ball, water and come dressed to play
a bit. We go back to the classroom for an hour before lunch. After lunch we start
in the classroom then back to the field for another 2 hour segment. The afternoon
is Goalkeeper activities and small group games. We finish in the classroom. The
day goes by quickly and should be a lot of fun."

Winter. Through their web site, you can search for area teams within the radius
of your choice - there are several within a 20 mile radius of Longmeadow. One

New E-Mail System
Starting this season, active coaches and players will be receiving
notices via email for events and general information.
If you don't have an active player in your house, but would like to
receive notices, please
join our email list. There will always be an "opt out"
link in the email you'll get from us for those who would prefer getting
their updates by other means.
Weather & Games
Generally, it's the coaches' decision to play or reschedule their games when
bad weather makes it unwise to be on the fields.
But, if weather conditions before the in-town and home games are bad enough to
possibly affect the conditions of the playing fields, we will try to have someone
check the field conditions and make a recommendation before games start.
If there are problems at the fields, you will see a red "No Games" banner
across the top of the home page here on the web site, and no games will be
played. If the fields appear to be usable, you will see the green "Games On"
banner and the fields will be available. Always check with your coach. Just
because the fields are usable doesn't mean he or she wants to play in the rain
or snow!
Snacks at "The Hut"
LSA will be selling snacks and drinks during Sunday games during the season
at the hut at Wolf Swamp Fields. Stop by to check out our Longmeadow Soccer
t-shirts, hooded sweat shirts and caps!
Field Hockey Goals
The field hockey coaches have asked us to be sure we leave their goals in place.
They are heavy and not easily moved back into place by one coach and a team
of young players. The soccer fields are marked and have goals for
us to use for practice.
