Welcome

Longmeadow Soccer Association is a group of parent volunteers who enjoy the game of soccer almost as much as we enjoy seeing our kids playing and having fun. The In-Town program serves all boys and girls from Kindergarten through 8th grade who sign up to play. The Travel program serves boys and girls from age 9 through 13, with teams chosen from players who attend our spring evaluation.

Our philosophy promotes teamwork, skills development, fun and fitness without a focus on winning. Players from Kindergarten through 8th grade need to develop personal and team skills before beginning competitive play.

From the LSA By-Laws:
The purpose of this Association shall be to develop, promote and administer the game of soccer among players within the town of Longmeadow. It shall do so by providing a positive athletic experience, teaching cooperation and team work, and improving the individual skills of the players.

LSA is a member of the Pioneer Valley Junior Soccer League and Mass Youth Soccer.

In-Town Season Comes to an Early End
We hope everyone had a fun season this year, but thanks to the weather, the season came to an early end. We collected equipment bags from the coaches at the Community House on Saturday, November 19. All coaches, travel and in-town must return their equipment bags, including any uniforms that were not use this year. In-town coaches for 3rd grade and up also returned the remaining ref fees. If you were not able to return your equipment on that date, please send an email to Board@LongmeadowSoccer.com to arrange a drop off.

Thank you coaches for all you do to help our kids have fun while developing their skills.

E-Mail Notifications
Active coaches and players will be receiving notices via email for events and general information. If you don't have an active player in your house right now, but would like to receive notices, please join our email list. There will always be an "opt out" link in the email you'll get from us for those who would prefer getting their updates by other means.

Weather & Games
Generally, it's the in-town coaches' decision to play or reschedule their games when bad weather makes it unwise to be on the fields. But, if weather conditions before the games are bad enough to possibly affect the conditions of the playing fields, we will try to have someone check the field conditions and make a recommendation before games start.

If we see problems at the fields, or if Parks & Rec has closed the fields, you'll see a red "No Games" banner across the top of the home page here on the web site, and no games will be played. If the fields appear to be usable, you'll see the green "Games On" banner and the fields will be available. Always check with your coach. Just because the fields are usable doesn't mean he or she wants to play in the rain or snow!

For travel, games are canceled only when the home team's town has closed their fields. Check the PVJSL web site for field closures before heading out for an away game. For home games, we must wait until Parks & Rec or DPW contacts us when they have decided to close our fields.

Snacks at "The Hut"
LSA sells snacks and drinks on Sundays during the fall season at the hut at Wolf Swamp Fields.

The U14Boys ended up 6-7-1 and missed the playoffs this year. While we did not make the playoffs, this team played great soccer at the end of the year and progressed more than any other team I coached over the past 5 years. Many thanks to my co-coach - Alex Haldopoulos who’s love for the game rubbed off on the players and made them all better. Chris Cove

Our U12 Girls, division 3, finished the season in 1-st place 11 wins 0 losses and 1 tie. Total - 34 points. Goals 43-7 in our favor. Longmeadow finished 6 points ahead of the second place. Because of the snowstorm our postseason got moved by 2 weeks and we had to play both semifinals and final game on the same day. We won 2:0 in the semifinal over Gateway, and lost 0:1 in the final to Frontier. Team finished season with League Title – gold medals, and runner up medals in the tournament, and we are very proud of our players. Val Girshik

U11 Girls - White (aka Ninjas), had a great season. This was the Ninjas first year together playing as a team. They came together quickly and proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Even as a U11 team, they made the playoffs in the U12 division of the Dalton Tournament. The end of the season was incredibly exciting. The Ninjas had to win the last 4 games of the season to make the playoffs. They won the first two, unfortunately lost the third but came back to beat that very same team the very next day. What a testament to their passion and grit.
